FERRARA - DESIGN FACTORY

Edra welcomes with pleasure the invitation to attend the appointment DESIGN FACTORY, born under XfafX - Festival to design today, held to mark the twentieth anniversary of the Faculty of Architecture, University of Ferrara.

The event will take place May 16, 2012 at 17:00 at the Salone D'onore of Tassoni Palace Este, home of the University,in Ferrara, Via della Ghiara 36, which also hosts an installation of some of the most representative of collection.

Speakers at the conference will be Valerio Mazzei, president of Edra, Massimo Morozzi, art director of Edra, and the designer Francesco Binfaré, that through an interactive discussion are going to represent the history and the path of the company.

SHANGHAI - ITALIAN PAVILION - TRADITION AND INNOVATION. ITALY IN CHINA

The Italian pavilion at the Shanghai Italian center in Shanghai, a gift of the Italian Government as a center of cultural exchange and business between the two countries, hosting his first show. The exhibition, a collaboration between the Triennale in Milan and Shaghai Expo Group, is titled: Tradition and Innovation. L’Italia in Cinae presents to the Chinese public art, crafts, fashion, design and Italian technology in relation to Chinese culture.

Edra attends in the central square, called Piazza della Gioia, with Jenette chair by Fernando and Humberto Campana.

FLORENCE - CRAFTS INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION

Edra is pleased to participate in the cultural exhibition on design for the 76th edition of the Mostra Internazionale dell’Artigianato that will be held in Florence, 21 to 29 April 2012. The exhibition aims to promote the culture of design as a value-added manufacturing activities, highlighting issues and production realities of relation between Craft and Design. Edra attend with the Vermelha chair, designed in 1998 by Fernando and Humberto Campana, particularly relevant to the theme of the exhibition as it requires several days of manual labor and high expertise for the weaving to build the chair.

MILANO- SALONE DEL MOBILE

On the19 of April,from 17.00, Edra is pleased to host in her showroom in Via Ciovassino 3, Brera, the performance of the famous street-artist KayOne , which will decorate a Flap sofa.

CATANIA - ART FACTORY

Edra welcomes with pleasure the invitation of Arredi Gallina of Acireale to participate at the second edition of Art Factory 02 located in the exibition centre Le Ciminiere of Catania. Art Factory 02 introduces a vast new project with international range, for a big exhibition-market dedicated to contemporary collectors.

Edra attends with some products of its collection: armchairs Anemone, Corallo and Favela designed by Fernando and Humberto Campana and the Flap sofa, one of the best seller by Edra, designed by Francesco Binfaré.

PERUGIA - VISIONI D’ABATI

In occasione della serie d’incontri “Visioni 2012” dedicati a scoprire tutte le novità e i protagonisti del design, Abati Mobili dedica ad Edra l’appuntamento del 17 marzo 2012, dal titolo”Edra: una storia a sé”. Durante la serata, rivolta in particolare ad architetti, progettisti, designer interverranno l'architetto Massimo Morozzi, art director Edra e designer, e l'architetto Francesco Binfaré, designer e autore di molti dei prodotti in mostra.

Edra sarà presente nello spazio espositivo con molti prodotti della collezione: i divani Sfatto, Sofa, Flap, On the Rocks e Cipria; i tavoli Brasilia e Croma; le poltrone Vermelha, Grinza, Sponge, Rose Chair e Getsuen; il mobile Scrigno la sedia Mummy ed ancora le diverse composizioni del sistema Paesaggi Italiani, tra cui la finitura Tronco (2011), il contenitore Cabana, la specchiera Miraggio e la lampada Campana. Accoglie i visitatori lo storico divano Tatlin rivestito di velluto in due nuance di rosso, così come era nella sua prima versione del 1989.

PERUGIA - VISIONI D’ABATI

During the series of meetings "Visioni 2012" dedicated to finding out all the news and leading design, Abati mobili dedicate to Edra the event of March 17th, 2012, entitled "Edra: a story in itself".

During the evening, aimed at architects, planners, designers, is going to intervene the architect Massimo Morozzi, art director of Edra and designer, and architect Francesco Binfaré, designer and author of many of the products exhibited.

Edra will be in the exhibition space with many products of the collection: the sofa Sofa, Flap, On the Rocks and Cipria; tables Brasilia and Croma, the Vermelha chair, Grinza, Sponge, Rose Chair and Getsuen; container Scrigno, the chair Mummy and all the other different compositions of the system Paesaggi Italiani, including finishing Tronco (2011), the container Cabana, the mirror Miraggio and the lamp Campana.

Visitors will be received from the historic Tatlin sofa upholstered in velvet in two shades of red, as it had in its first release in 1989.

ROVERETO - MART

In occasion of the exhibition organised by Victoria & Albert Museum in London and now hosted at MART Mueseum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto, the Damier sofas designed by Francesco Binfaré and Corallo armchair designed by Fernando and Humberto Campana are the protagonists of the lounge, which welcomes the visitors at the end of the exhibition route, where the vivid colours of these products find a perfect place.

The exhibition titled Postmodernism. Style and Subversion 1970–1990, shows how postmodernism evolved from a provocative architectural movement until to influence all areas of popular culture including art, film, music, graphics and fashion.

STOCKHOLM - STOCKHOLM FURNITURE FAIR AND NORTHERN LIGHT FAIR

Inga Sempè, guest star of Stockholm furniture fair, presents an exhibition dedicated to her, which is located in the entrance hall of the fair.
Edra takes part in this anthologic with the Brosse container, designed by the french designer in 2003 for the Tuscan company. The container presents itself like a mysterious item, with its aluminium structured with shelves screened off by large industrial-type brushes.

HASSELT - SUPERBODIES

Edra takes part in 3° edition of Triennal for contemporary art, fashion and design organised by the city of Hasselt. The theme of this edition is Superbodies and the exhibition explores the fascination of many artists and designers for our body and its shapes. The works shown let see and feel the body as the source of our thoughts and emotions.

Edra attends with Favela, Corallo, Vermelha and Leather Works armchairs and the container Cabana, all designed by Fernando and Humberto Campana.

HELSINKI - DESIGN MUSEUM

In occasion of Helsinki designation as World Design Capital 2012, the Design Museum organizes the exhibition: DesignWorld, in which products, concepts and prototypes are shown to help explaining how the design helps to live better.

Edra takes part in this exhibition with Favela armchair, made from many pieces of natural wood glued and nailed together by hand one over the other, and Cabana container, with its structure entirely concealed by dangling lengths of fire-proofed raffia.

Both products are designed by Fernando and Humberto Campana.

BOLZANO - INTERDISCIPLINARY DESIGN CENTER - FACULTY OF DESIGN

The Faculty of Design in Bolzano enriches itself of a new space where the design objects are shown with an "objects/materials/production" reading approach as to make a kind of library of products. Edra is present with Favela armchair, that is made from many pieces of natural wood, glued and nailed together by hand one over the other, it's designed by Fernando and Humberto Campana.

Interdisciplinary Design Center is the result of the research work of Prof. Alessandro Titone under the artistic direction of Prof. Glüher Gerhard and opens to public on 2011 December 20th, at 5 p.m.

BRINDISI - EXHIBITION " LA SCENA OBLIQUA" BY FULVIO TORNESE

Edra in collaboration with Habitat Azzarito di Mesagne (BR), attends with Getsuen and Corallo armchairs to the individual exhibition of contemporary art by the artist Fulvio Tornese, in the rooms of Bastione di San Giacomo in Brindisi.

The antological, curated by Arch. Angela Potì, collects the evolution of the artist, who is back from the success of the exhibition" Altri Luoghi" at Today Art Museum of Beijing in Pechino, on last July.

FANO - INTERNI PEDINELLI

Edra is pleased to take part to the meeting that Interni Pedinelli showroom dedicates to design, on Thursday December 1st starting at 5 p.m.

During the evening Filippo Mazzei, Area Manager for Edra explains its history and products.

In the spaces of the show room, some products help to mark the moments of this tale: the Corallo and Favela armchairs and the Cipria sofa, designed by Campana Brothers, the armchairs Getsuen by Masanori Umeda and Sponge by Peter Traag and a composition of Paesaggi Italiani, the modular system designed by Massimo Morozzi.

Moreover we find others sofas designed by Francesco Binfaré, considered among the bestsellers of Edra: Flap, Sofà, Brenno, Sfatto and a combination of the modular settee, called On the Rocks.

ROMA - CAFFE LETTERARIO

Pultrone and Edra are glad to presented: Edra: una storia a sé.

In the rooms of Caffè Letterario in Rome, where commercial and cultural activities live together, intersecting and influencing itself, the Edra products are the scenography to this special appointment. The Mummy and Jenette chairs, the Miraggio mirror, the Leather Works and Corallo armchairs, Topolone sofa, a composition of Paesaggi Italiani and the container Scrigno welcome us in the long corridor where at the end you find, to recreate a domestic view, Brasilia table between the sofas Sfatto and Flap, the container Cabana and above them the Campana lamp. In the centre of the room on a red star-shape stage, a clear recall to the Christmas time, the Tatlin sofa, the armchairs Rose Chair , Getsuen and Favela dominate. Theirs images are refracted by the mirror Miraggio placed behind them.

During the evening of December 2nd Massimo Morozzi and Humberto Campana come in talking about the Tuscany company history, the first one as its Art Director the second one as designer, explaining on what bases are founded this long-lived collaboration.

In this occasion an exhibition opens with a selection of Edra products that will be visible from 2011 December 2nd to 18th.

ROMA - MAXXI

Edra è partner tecnico del MAXXI per la realizzazione dell’installazione Maloca; un progetto di Fernando e Humberto Campana collegato alla mostra Re- Cycle. Strategie per l’architettura, la città e il pianeta, che apre al pubblico il 1 dicembre 2011 al museo MAXXI di Roma (fino al 29 aprile 2012).

Un voluminosissimo fascio di rafia si snoda, tra cascate e volute, creando un continuum tra l'esterno e l'interno nell’ingresso del museo. Per la messa in opera sono state replicate le tecniche usate dai nativi delle tribù brasiliane, è infatti alle loro capanne che l’installazione si ispira.

Edra è felice di aver contribuito alla realizzazione dell’installazione con la rafia, materiale che è stato utilizzato nel 2010 per il contenitore Cabana, disegnato dai fratelli Campana, e il cui utilizzo è continuato nel 2011 rendendolo una finitura, chiamata Paglia, del sistema modulare Paesaggi Italiani ideato da Massimo Morozzi.

L’opera sarà visibile per tutta la durata della mostra Re- Cycle. Strategie per l’architettura, la città e il pianeta e si propone di esplorare ed approfondire il contrasto tra l’ambiente architettonico contemporaneo e una costruzione di tipo indigeno.

Inoltre nella hall d'ingresso del museo, dal 30 novembre al 4 dicembre, è possibile vedere il divano Kaiman Jakarè, disegnato da Fernando e Humberto Campana per Edra. L'imbottito, unico nel suo genere, è composto da sei grandi forme zoomorfe diverse e indipendenti, combinabili, incastrabili una dentro l’altra, sovrapponibili, ma anche utilizzabili singolarmente o a gruppi, per disegnare sempre nuove isole di comfort.

BERNA - TEO JAKOB

Edra takes part in the exhibition dedicated to Campana Brothers and organized by the Swiss showroom teo jakob.

The exhibition, one of a kind, collects many pieces that the Campana Brothers have designed for the Tuscany company, during these years . Inside the spaces of the showroom in Berna is possible to see the containers Cabana and Scrigno; the sofas Boa and Cipria; the armchairs Anemone, Corallo, Grinza, Favela and Vermelha; the table Cotto and Brasilia; the chairs Jenette in black and the lamps Campana, shown in two sizes.

BRUSSELS - DESIGN BRAZIL

In the context of Europalia.Brazil festival, dedicated to discover from most famous to less known aspects of Brazilian culture and history, the Design Flanders Gallery dedicates to Edra and its more longer than ten years collaboration with Campana Brotheers a section of design exhibition Brazil.

The Edra products are the witnesses of this strong collaboration, they are told through the pictures that cover the gallery walls and the selection in exhibition, in which we find theJenette chairs in cyan and white, the Cabana container and the Leather Works and Corallo armchairs.

BRESCIA - CASARIVA

To celebrate new show room opening, CASARIVA organizes the RIVA Week: a series of meeting with the most representative companies of contemporary design. During these appointments, Riva dedicates the evening of November 11 to Edra.

The typical Tuscany dishes accompany the guests to discovery Edra products: the sofas Sherazade, On the Rocks and Sofà, the armchairs Corallo and Favela, the tables Cotto and Brasilia, the chairs Mummy and Jenette, the containers Cabana and Brosse, and a composition of the modular system Paesaggi Italiani.

On Saturday 12th November the show room window becomes a shooting set where some pictures of the customers will be taken on the Sfatto sofa, designed by Francesco Binfaré for Edra and presented during the last Salone del Mobile.

ZURIGO – NEUE RAUME

Edra is at the Neue Räume, Switzerland’s largest international furniture expo, trade fair in Zurich.

In the Edra stand are shown some best-selling sofas designed by Francesco Binfaré: Flap, Sofà and Sfatto, presented last April at the Salone del Mobile in Milan, whose exceptional versatility and comfort were met with immediate acclaim. Along with these, we find a selection of products designed by Fernando and Humberto Campana for Edra: the container Scrigno, the Brasilia tables; the Campana lamp and the Vermelha armchair, icon and symbol of the beginning of the collaboration between the Brazilian designers and the Tuscan.

The Swiss fair, for its 10th anniversary, dedicates a special exhibition to the Campana Brothers, where the visitors can realistically know the products shown, along with these Edra is there with numerous products from its collection: the Cabana and Scrigno storage systems; the Aster Papposus, Boa and Cipria sofas; the Anemone, Corallo, Grinza, Favela and Vermelha armchairs; the Cotto table and Brasilia coffe tables; two black Jenette chairs and the Campana lamp, in both models.

For the first time the events and the appointments reach the center of Zurich in the initiative titled “Design in the City”. The display windows of Fabric Frontline will feature, among precious silk scarves and neckties, three pieces created with everyday materials rendered precious by craftsmanship and creativity: the Favela and Corallo chairs and the Zig-Zag screen by Fernando and Humberto Campana.

NAPOLI - NOVELLI ARREDAMENTI

Edra takes part in Il sonno della ragione genera... mostre!, a series of appointments dedicated to design and its protagonists, organized by the historical showroom Novelli, in Naples.

To frame this meeting Edra products of past and present are shown. Three of the novelties presented at the last Salone: Sfatto sofa, designed by Francesco Binfaré, Grinza armchair, designed by Fernando e Humberto Campana and a composition of the modular system Paesaggi Italiani by Massimo Morozzi in Tronco version; and two unforgettable classics of Edra production: the sofas Flapand Sofà, designed by Francesco Binfaré.

VERONA - ABITARE IL TEMPO 100% PROJECT

Edra takes part to the exhibition "Materials", located at the main entrance of ABITARE IL TEMPO 100% PROJECT.

The exhibition, curated by Giulio Cappellini, aims to outline an approach through products in different materials. Innovative in technical and formal terms, the objects shown that are still landmarks in contemporary design.

The exhibition is organised around sections analysing the various materials and, in the section dedicated to leather, it houses the Leather Works, padded chair covered by approximately 300 pieces of leather, all cut and freely hand assembled, designed by Fernando and Humberto Campana.

BRINDISI - GIORNATE SALENTINE

Edra is proud to partecipate to the Giornate Oncologiche Salentine, an important event focused on the theme of Cancer treatment.

The first day of congress ends at Teatro Verdi in Brindisi, with an interview about the science to the cancer specialist Umberto Veronesi. On stage, welcoming the interviewers Saverio Cinieri and Michele Mirabella, two red armchair Getsuen, by Masanori Umeda, one white armchair Vermelha and the table Brasilia, both designed by Fernando and Humberto Campana.

PRATA DI PORDENONE - MULTISENSORY EVENT

Edra is present in the showroom L’arredamento in Prata di Pordenone on the occasion of Multisensory exhibition, fours hands project by architects Patrizia Scarzella and Paolo Martinuzzi.

Five evocative ambients of domestic atmospheres, on the theme of multisensorial experience, accomodate the excellence of design world. In this perceptive trip we find: the modular system Paesaggi Italiani in Specchio e Legno version and the Sfatto sofa, both presented during the Salone del Mobile 2011; the mirror Miraggio and the container Cabana.

PARIGI - MUSEUM OF ORSAY

The café de l’horloge at the Museum of Orsay, presented in preview last October, opens its doors and presents itself to the world with the name Café Campana, in honour of Brazilian designers duo that has signed the project.

In its spaces there are many Edra products, we find huge blue partitions realised with pieces of reflex laser-cut placed one on the others to create the famous decorative pattern Brasilia; screens developped from the steel weave of the Coralloarmchair and the lamps Campana in gold; moreover, the chairs are a totally unprecedented piece: a chair like an phytomorphic organism that separates seat and backrest into leaves, or something similar to the map of a territory split by a great river.

PARIS - D'ORSAY MUSEUM - PRIVATE OPENING OCTOBER 12TH - PUBLIC OPENING OCTOBER 20TH

Hybridization is undoubtedly by now a current and widespread practice to which our contemporary world has begun to become accustomed. Yet discovering Fernando and Humberto Campana at the Cafè de l’Horloge, in the old Gare d’Orsay in Paris, still constitutes in some way an ‘esthetic shock’.

Who can imagine the reaction of the purists who, in the mid-‘80s, were already accusing Gae Aulenti’s requalification of committing ‘violence’ against the original configuration of the 19th-century railway station? Today, in that monument of powerful structures and high culture, where the organic and fragmented forms of the Brazilian brothers have insinuated themselves. Today, when the absolutely ‘atypical’ references of Fernando and Humberto, from the rural Italy of their maternal grandparents to the Indio Brazil of their childhood to the creative ‘violence’ of a megalopolis like Sao Paulo, adorn the Parisian architecture with twisted metal wires, acrylic splinters and sheets of gilded aluminum, delineating the image of a future that somehow resembles the distant past, like when Flash Gordon reached the faraway planet Mongo.

Edra was able to first interpret and then build this 3-dimensional dream of the Campana brothers, expanding on a grand scale the mirrored methacrylate landscapes of the Brasilia collection to create huge partitions that diffuse an aquarium-blue light; alchemically transforming the silver sheets of Campana lamps into gold fragments; developing the steel weave of the Corallo sofa into vast screens; and lastly, realizing a totally unprecedented chair with a frame in gold enameled metal and a seat and backrest in blue molded polyurethane, like an anomalous phytomorphic organism that separates seat and backrest into leaves, or something similar to the map of a territory split by a great river.

There is nothing left at the Cafè de l’Horloge of the bourgeois comfort of a Parisian bistrot: no red velvet, no mahogany, no brass pommels, but rather a matrix similar to that which led some of the Impressionist masters, coincidentally housed here, to travel off to foreign lands. So they could continue to dream.

 

FIRENZE - XXVII BIENNALE D’ANTIQUARIATO - PALAZZO PITTI

Edra takes part, with a special setting, to the opening party of XXVII Biennale d’antiquariato, in Florence. For 10 days, the exhibition attracts thousands of antiquarians and enthusiasts, and this year it is addressed also to the youth industrial and reserves them this event.

The opening party is in Ammannati court, in Palazzo Pitti, and it’s organized by Firenze Made in Tuscany magazine, Biennale and Camera di commercio.

In the setting of Palazzo Pitti's court, there is the sofà Tatlin Diamond MADE WITH SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS, that lights and welcomes every Firenze magazine party with Edra. In this occasion as frame we find the armchairs Corallo, Anemone e Favela;  the sofas Damier and Flap. At closing of this scenography: Cabana, that with his tribal image is in contrast to the Swarovsky crystals of Tatlin sofa and impresses on the background his totemic and archaic presence, like the Tuscany country.

 

ROMA - MERCATI DI TRAIANO MUSEO DEI FORI IMPERIALI - MEETDESIGN - FROM SEPTEMBER 15th TO OCTOBER 14th 2011

TORINO - PALAZZO BERTALAZONE DI SAN FERMO XVII sec. - MEETDESIGN -FROM 2011 NOVEMBER 04th TO 2012 JANUARY 25th

Edra attends to MEETDESIGN, an innovative multi-channel platform whose primary purpose is to diffuse Italian design by means of broad initiatives aimed at end consumers, arranged by RCS group in co-operation with the Councils for Cultural Policies of the Rome Municipality and the Turin Municipality.

Inside this box of ideas and activities, Marco Romanelli, curator of the exhbition dedicated to the design history, has selected the Alice armchair by Jacopo Foggini, maked in plastic cord manually layed down in a cast with artistic gesture; and the Corbeille armchair, designed by Francesco Binfaré with a basket-shaped woven metal structure filled with big cushions.

PORTO - CASA DA MUSICA - MESA 2011

Edra welcomes with pleasure the invitation to partecipate to MESA 2011, which is organized by Eduardo Souto de Moura, Camilo Rebelo e Jofebar SA.

This event was create to celebrate Eduardo Souto Moura's 30 years of career, recently winner of Pritzker Architecture Prize. With an exhibition, some talks and a workshops they want open a debate on creative works in the architecture, in the city and public space.

On the stage, from which the relators talk, there are four armchairs Vermelha, designed by Fernando and Humberto Campana.

 

LONDON - POWER OF MAKING

Edra takes part to the exhibition Power of making, organized by Victoria & Albert Museum and Craft Council partnership, with the container Cabana inside the Victoria & Albert Museum.

Daniel Charny, who is the curator of the exhibition, has conceived this objects' collection as a cabinet of curiosities to explore the universal nature of making, exploring how materials can be used in imaginative and spectacular ways and encouraging visitors to consider the process of making, not just the results.

Cabana, with its metal structure entirely concealed by dangling lengths of raffia, is an example of the skill of making that presents both a social and aesthetic merit.

BARNSLEY - +(55)BRAZIL

Edra takes part to the exhibition +(55)BRAZIL, organized in The Gallery@The Civic in occasion of the 9th edition of All Barnsley Diversity Festival 2011.

Within the arts activities organized to celebrate the communities and individual cultures that lives in Barnsley, this exhibition wants to celebrate the best of contemporary Brazilian craft and design, and investigate the influences that esthablished in the world of today.

The armchair Leather Works is well suited in this context, designed by the Brazilian Fernando and Humberto Campana for Edra where each piece needs about 400 pieces of leather that are all cut and hand assembled

BEIJING - INTERNATIONAL CRATIVE JUNCTIONS/DESIGN PING PONG

Edra welcomes with pleasure the invitation of Gilda Bojardi, editor in chief of INTERNI magazine, to take part at the exhibition INTERNATIONAL CREATIVE JUNCTIONS / DESIGN PING PONG, of which she is the Italian curator.

The exhibition represents the main part of the first Beijing International Design Triennial. It aims to introduce to Chinese audience the protagonists of international design, showing a selection of meaningful projects that emphasize the unique relationship between the creative talent and the main international manufacturers of Design.

The exhibition, set up in the Central Exhibition Hall of prestigious National Museum of China, hosts, among others: the sofa Flap, by Francesco Binfaré in ecological fur version realized for its X anniversary, and three products designed by Campana Brothers for Edra: the Jenette chair, the container Cabana and the armchair Corallo.

In the Museo Nazionale Alinari della Fotografia in Firenze, on June 13th at 8 pm, Edra takes part to the cocktail party in occasion of the presentation new issue of Firenze Made in Tuscany magazine and the opening of photographic exhibition called Morgante by Nicola Lo Calzo, emerging artist in the international photographic overview.

Two sofas Flap, with his sleek shape with parts that tilt at various angles to become backs and rests for unhindered relaxation positions and the centerpieces sofa Tatlin, here in Diamond MADE WITH SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS version, welcome the guests during the evening.

IL SOLE SUI TETTI – GALLERIA DEGLI UFFIZI

Edra welcomes the invitation of Felice Limosani to participate in Il Sole sui Tetti, a Gruppo Sole 24 Ore project about culture and contemporary communication, sponsored by Comune di Firenze - Assessorato alla Cultura.

The Edra products are at the special opening, on June 13th; where two sofas Flap: one in red leather and other one in Diamond MADE WITH SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS version, the sofa shaped of giant starfish Aster Papposus and two armchairs Corallo help to make more magical and special the ambience.

The presence of Edra, in the wonderful terrace of Uffizi, immediately gives us a sense of armony and shared concept.

The propulsion “vedere le cose dall'alto e del cambio di prospettiva” ( to view the things from on high and to change perspective) it’s a spontaneous attitude that constantly leads us.

CARRARA - CARRARA MARBLE WEEK

Edra takes part at Carrara Marble Week, 5 days dedicated to culture, design, art and people. The event, thought and organized by CarraraFiere under the artistic direction of Silvia Nerbi e Paolo Armenise, combines “know-how” with new languages of the stone across various routes of knowledge in the heart of Carrara.

Edra attends LANGUAGE OF ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN route with some products.

The sofas Flap and Tatlin, the armchairs Corallo, Getsuen and Rose Chair and a composition of Paesaggi Italiani in gold accompany visitors inside the suggestive rooms of Atelier Gazzillo - Palazzo del Medico - in the hystorical Piazza Alberica. While in the foyer of Teatro degli Animosi, it’s possible to admire the sofa Tatlin, in red velvet.

Carrara Marble Week is a free entry event; the activities take place every night, from june 8th to 12th, from 5 pm to 12 pm.

PERUGIA - FESTARCH 2011

Edra welcomes with pleasure the invitation to participate to Festarch, the international festival of architecture, thinked up and directed by Stefano Boeri and organized by RCS Periodici.

The event, that from June 2nd to 5th arrives in Perugia and Assisi, presents his theme for the 2011 edition: “The Anti-City”.

For 4 days, in the squares and in the most representative place of the two cities, there is a succession of performance and meeting with some of the most important architects, designers, artists and thinkers of international scene.

Inside the charming location of Perugia’s Acropolis twoFlap sofas and four Leather Works armchairs accompany the Lectio Magistralis held by guest star, in the Theatre Morlacchi and the Theatre Pavone.

PARIGI - MILAN A PARIS CHEZ MY DESIGN

Edra is at Milan à Paris chez My Design from May12th to June 30th.

At the showroom My Design, located in 75 Quai de la Gare is possible to discover the new collection Edra in Wonderland, presented at the last Salone del mobile. A landscape of heavy fabrics, great slabs of solid mahogany and whole, ultra-soft animal hides, there appears an exception, colorful and luminous.

On show Sfatto by Francesco Binfaré, a sofà with ultra-soft padding, adjustable backrest and covered in heavy fabrics; the armchair Grinza, designed by Fernando and Humberto Campana on which over the structure, composed by a steel tube frame and polyurethane padding, are draped softly great expanses of leather or eco-fur and the new finish, by Francesco Binfaré, of Paesaggi Italiani called Tronco, where hefty planks of solid mahogany, the bark still intact on the outsides and clean-cut on the internal face, propose a partial closure.

PARIGI - PARIS EN TOUTES LETTRES

Edra takes part at the literature festival Paris en toutes lettres that takes place in Paris from May 5th to 8th with three armchairs Corallo, that attend the tales of actors and writers at the space CentQuatre. The initiative, now in its third edition, sets up a network of events around the city: lectures, literary events, meetings, shows, literary walks and much more.

ZURICH - A NEW HOOK - RE-THINKING NEEDLEWORK

Edra takes part at the exhibition A New Hook - Re-thinking Needlework, that takes place at Bellerive Museum in Zurich.

The exhibition sets out to explore current responses to the notion of craft, in particular needlework, in order to examine its impact in the discourse of art, design, architecture and everyday life.

It’s present the armchair Vermelha designed by Fernando and Humberto Campana. Wrap-around seat, created by weaving 500 meters of special rope with an acrylic core and covered in cotton, on a steel frame painted with epoxy powders and massive aluminium legs.

Several days’ manual work is required to build the armchair, together with high expertise for the weaving.

DESIGN LIBRARY "I GIOVEDI' DEL DESIGN"

Francesco Binfaré takes part at “I giovedì del design” and tells his last project for Edra: Sfatto sofa, chosen by Design Library as “most interesting product of the Salone 2011”.

Edra in Wonderland

The annual cadence of design collections is transformed into a story divided by chapters. So, while in 2010 we saw the hordes of Attila, recounted by Barbarians, this year we find ourselves in a magical place, suspended in time, such that this new episode can only be entitled Edra in Wonderland. This collection privileges natural materials, worked apparently to a minimum so as to conserve their flavor. They embody a concept of comfort whereby a sofa, for example, displays that slightly unkempt look that belongs to objects of affection – that is, to the things we really use and love. In this landscape of heavy fabrics, great slabs of solid mahogany and whole, ultra-soft animal hides, there appears an exception, colorful and luminous, called Alice (as in Alice in Wonderland).

 

Edra for Italian Unification

In commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy, the festivities for which will be held at the Reggia di Venaria Reale in Turin, from 17 March to December 2011, Edra will participate with a singular version of the Flap sofa (designed by Francesco Binfarè, 2000), specially upholstered in the colors of the Italian flag for Esperienza Italia: an exhibition and program of events dedicated to Italian history, art, fashion and design.

The President of the Republic, Giorgio Napolitano, will join the event on 19 March.
